Canadian snowboarder Liam Brearley won the gold medal in a World Cup slopestyle event Saturday. Brearley, 20, of Gravenhurst, Ont., scored 89.93 points to finish ahead of Japan's Taiga Hasegawa (85.31). Australian Valentino Gueseli was third (83.77).

MONTREAL — The frigid, snow-covered streets of Old Montreal were mostly empty ahead of former prime minister Brian Mulroney's funeral, save for a handful of determined mourners from the general public who gathered at the edge of the security barrier

OTTAWA — Family members, friends, political dignitaries and celebrities packed Montreal's storied Notre Dame Basilica on Saturday for the funeral of Brian Mulroney. The former prime minister died Feb. 29 in Palm Springs, Fla.
