INNISFAIL - Chinook’s Edge School Division (CESD) will be offering a new flexible learning opportunity for Grade 1 - 8 students starting in September, officials said in a release Monday.
Under the initiative, families not currently registered with the division will be able to enrol their children in the learning program, with support coming from CESD teachers.
The program will have two learning pathways: one involves receiving a backpack of resources each month containing learning resources with access to curricular projects, and the other will offer a more rigorous program that focus on academic achievement, said Karyn Barber, associate superintendent of system services.
“Chinook’s Edge recognizes that some families are looking for flexibility in how learning is delivered,” said Barber. “Chinook’s Edge looks forward to connecting with these families to provide high quality learning that fits students’ needs and family context.”
Students in the program will have direct access to CESD teachers, and will also have the opportunity to participate in field trips with other students in the program and connect with community resources such as access to fitness facilities, she said.
CESD is headquartered in Innisfail and has schools across the region.
