Extreme cold warning issued Friday for Innisfail area

INNISFAIL - Environment and Climate Change Canada issued an extreme cold warning for the Red Deer - Ponoka - Innisfail - Stettler area Friday.

In it's 4:30 a.m. Jan. 19 update, the federal agency noted "extremely cold wind chill values near - 40 continue this morning."

Temperatures are forecast to moderate Friday afternoon for most areas. Parts of northern Alberta may see wind chill values near -40 C again tonight.

The federal agency issues an extreme cold warning when the temperature or wind chill is expected to reach -40 C for at least two hours.
