INNISFAIL — Local Mounties have arrested a Red Deer man in connection to a break and enter and theft at a business near Pine Lake.

RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney said in a news release issued earlier today (June 30) that Innisfail RCMP were called to respond on Sunday, June 26 to a break and enter at a business near Pine Lake, located about 40 kilometres east of Innisfail.

Slaney said RCMP received assistance from a property representative and were subsequently able to locate and arrest two suspects.

The corporal said the suspects were in possession of copper wire stolen from the business.

Ian Bruce, 36, of Red Deer, was charged with the following offences:

  • Break and enter;
  • Possession of break and enter tools;
  • Theft under $5,000;
  • Possession of methamphetamine.

Slaney told the Albertan that no charges were laid against the second suspect. She was not immediately certain if he or she was released by attending RCMP.

Bruce was later released on cash bail by a Justice of the Peace.

He is scheduled to appear on Thursday, July 14 in Red Deer provincial court.
