Innisfailian faces road rage charges

An Innisfail man is facing assault and uttering threats charges with a teenage youth in connection to a road rage incident last February in Red Deer.

An Innisfail man is facing assault and uttering threats charges with a teenage youth in connection to a road rage incident last February in Red Deer.

On March 30 and 31, the two males, one adult and the other a youth, made their first appearances in Red Deer provincial court. The adult will be back in court on April 20 while the youth will return on April 28.

The pair was arrested on Feb. 25 after a road rage incident in the city's Bower neighbourhood.

Red Deer RCMP said in February they received a report at about 1:30 p.m. that two males driving a grey Kia had waved what appeared to be a long- barrelled firearm at another driver.

The males then confronted the driver in an alley that intersected Boyce Street, but no physical engagement occurred, said RCMP.

Police said the two suspects re-entered their car and were immediately intercepted by RCMP in the parking lot of Bower Place mall.

RCMP said members then executed a high-risk arrest of the two males and they were taken into custody without incident.

RCMP said police officers seized a replica BB gun. No one was injured in this incident.

Last week, Red Deer RCMP said Jeremy Wayne White, 26, of Innisfail, was charged with uttering threats, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon.

His alleged 15-year-old accomplice, who can't be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with weapons possession contrary to a court order, uttering threats, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon.
