The French immersion program will soon be no more for students at École St. Marguerite Bourgeoys School.

The new school in Penhold will open as a Grade 7 to 12 school, explained Chinook's Edge School Board trustee Sherry Cooper recently. Cooper met with Mayor Dennis Cooper and MLA Luke Ouellette Feb.

The man accused of impaired driving causing the death of four Filipino temporary workers after a collision on QE II on March 4 had his bail hearing and plea put over until March 14.

Impaired care and control A man was arrested for impaired care and control of a vehicle after he was found by an RCMP officer passed out behind the wheel with half a bottle of vodka in the vehicle.

They drove 3,641 kilometres in 2011 and put in 733 volunteer hours trying to do their part to help keep Innisfail safe. Those statistics from Innisfail RCMP show the hard work the local branch of Citizens on Patrol put in.

A freight train component was the cause of a train derailment that happened a few miles north of Innisfail along Highway 2A last year. On Jan. 18, 2011, 16 cars were derailed after a car jumped the track near the Niobe grain elevator.

The Rick Hansen Relay was in full motion last week as it made its way through Bowden, Innisfail and Penhold.

This isn't his first time finishing the winner, but it's the best time he's made yet.
