A tent will rise, glass will be trodden upon and a contortionist will, well, contort.Dr. Von Houligan's Carnival of Calamities will arrive in Olds for three days of wonder and intrigue from April 3 to 5.Allister Denton, the carnival's ringmaster, said the event will take place in a large tent in the parking lot of the Olds Royal Canadian Legion on Highway 27.The carnival is a travelling show touring Western Canada and will feature five performers from all over the world including a contortionist from Canada, a clown from the U.S. and a juggler from Germany.Denton said the 7 p.m. show on April 3 and the 6:30 p.m. shows on April 4 and 5 are for all ages but the 9:30 p.m. shows on April 4 and 5 are for adults only. The later shows, he added, will feature a “sideshow” with performers walking on glass and lying on a bed of nails. All shows last roughly two hours and Denton said the tent will be warm thanks to preheating and the lights used for the show but spectators are advised to dress warmly.Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for seniors and are available at the legion.
