Mountain View County's Agricultural Services Board has approved a number of riparian enhancement projects.
During the June 17 regularly scheduled ag service meeting at the county office, the board approved projects in Mountain View County totalling $5,411.20.
Those projects included four watering system projects and two creek crossing projects.
The board also approved 2013 Alberta Conservation Association riparian enhancement projects, which consist of five fencing and one shelterbelt project, with a total cost of $7,976.13.
Fencing, crossing, water system and shelterbelt projects approved include the following:
• One at Eagle Creek (NE-30-32-04-W5) where 11 acres will be fenced by 1,500 metres of fencing.
• One at Jackson Creek (SE-33-33-05-W5) where 81 acres will be fenced.
• One on a tributary to Beaverdam Creek (SW-35-29-03-W5) in the Dogpound Creek watershed where four acres will be fenced.
• One on the Community Creek (SW-212-32-06-W5) in the Red Deer River watershed where one acre is being fenced.
• One on a tributary of the Little Red Deer River (NE-16-33-03-W5) where 10 acres is being fenced.
• One on Lone Pine Creek (SW-30-31-27-W4 and NE-25-31-28-W4) where a watering system will be installed.
• One at a spring at NW-10-32-06-W5 where a watering system will be installed.
• One at N12-21-31-27-W4 where a watering system will be installed.
• One at Walton Creek (SE-10-33-07-W5) where 30 acres will be fenced and a watering system pad will be installed.
• One at E -16-32-02-W5 where a creek crossing will be installed on the Rosebud River watershed.
• One at NW-10-33-02-W5 where 200 metres of shelterbelt will be installed.
Agricultural service boards advise their governing municipalities and the provincial government on agriculture related issues.
The Mountain View ag services board will meet again on Aug. 19.
