Mountain View County councillors have OK'd a one per cent cost of living increase for staff and council for 2013.During the Dec. 12 regular council meeting, councillors approved the increase, which will cost the county an additional $95,000.The cost of living increase was three per cent in 2012.“We base it on the Alberta price index,” said CAO Tony Martens.Meanwhile, county rural residents will see the cost of solid waste collection increase in the new year after councillors approved a rate hike during the Dec. 12 council meeting.Starting on March 1, 2013, the monthly rate for the 65-gallon cart rental and collection increases from $12 to $12.30.Bin collection rates for a four-week cycle increase from $73.65 to $73.95, from $50.80 to $51.10 on an eight-week cycle, and from $41.30 to $41.55 on a 12-week cycle.There are 709 rural garbage bins in Mountain View County.
