Mountain View County councillors have approved the construction of a Fortis power line west of Didsbury.During the Dec. 12 council meeting, councillors approved the three-phase line on the municipal right-of-way on the south side of Twp. Rd. 314.Phase two and three power lines must come before council for approval under county procedure 4019-01. The new line will service a well site at the location.Plans to have the line constructed on the north side of the road could not go ahead because of the presence of an existing line, council heard.“Due to this, there is no room for the proposed line but to parallel the Altalink line on the south side of the road allowance,” Fortis spokesperson Dionito Maranon said in a letter received by council. “We tried to find some other route but we ran out of options.”- Dan Singleton
