CARSTAIRS - Local families were able to access some local resources, services and products all in one place at the recent Carstairs Parenting Fair, which was held at the community hall.

The event was organized by the Carstairs Public Library in partnership with the Town of Carstairs.

Organizer and library manager Joanne Merrick said the event went well with attendance of just over 600 people.

Merrick said the purpose of the fair was to provide parents with access and information that could help make their lives easier.

"The information obtained at the event could potentially make their lives easier, or help parents resolve problems as they arise by creating an awareness of local organizations and service providers that can assist them and keep their families engaged in activities that are fulfilling to them," said Merrick.

Also at the parenting fair were many sports organizations that were accepting fall registrations. The fair was followed by the town's annual drive-in family movie night, which featured the film Moana.

"It was a full evening of family fun that served a specific need," said Merrick. "Vendors and resources included services such as: music lessons, massage therapy, meal planning, 4-H, psychological services, daycares and more."

In addition there were activities such as a family photo booth, an airbrush tattoo artist, Hawaiian dancers, crafting activities and a loose parts free play area.
