DIDSBURY - J.D.'s Restaurant in Didsbury is hosting a community ham supper fundraiser on Thanksgiving to benefit the Mountain View Food Bank.

The restaurant is offering ham and all the fixings for just $5 as a way of giving back to the community, said owner Jae Teskey.

"We'll be offering it on Thanksgiving (Oct. 14) from 12 noon until 3 p.m.," said Teskey. "We can serve up to 200 people. This is the first time we've done it so I don't how many will show but I'll cook for a couple of hundred."

Teskey said people are welcome to donate more, which all goes to the food bank.

"If people can't afford it they are welcome to come in and have dinner on us," she said. "I know there are lots of seniors that maybe don't have family nearby that are coming to visit. They can always come and join us."

Teskey said the food bank is a great service which serves those less fortunate in the whole area.

"I always think if anyone donates in a small community it should stay in the community," she said. "There are plenty of needy people here that need help."
