Health funding OK'd

Mountain View County council has approved funding for several groups under the municipality's health funding program. The move also came during the recent regularly scheduled council meeting.

The move also came during the recent regularly scheduled council meeting.

The funding program supports “innovative solutions to support health- care service delivery within Mountain View County” by allocating an annual budget of $62,500.

All allocated funds must have a “direct benefit to the residents of MVC” and “shall support health initiatives in a capacity such as promotion, prevention, treatment, continuing care, and/or rehabilitation.”

Funds are not awarded to projects/programs that are eligible for existing funding from Alberta Health Services.

The Central Alta Pregnancy Care Centre received $1,800 for its fathering program and $2,335 for its Keys to Young Parenting program.

The Hope 4 MVC Kids Society received $6,800 for assistance for children in medical need.

The Olds & District Hospice Society received $15,000 for hospice palliative care suites and related ongoing expenses.

The STARS Foundation received $24,718 for operating costs, based on $2 per capita.

The Sundre Health Professionals Attraction and Retention Committee received $10,000.
