Area residents are encouraged to make a difference today with generosity.

Nov. 28 is Giving Tuesday, an international movement that that encourages people to do good by giving of their time and resources.

In Canada, it was founded in 2013 by CanadaHelps.org, GIV3 and several other founding partners.

Give time, make someone smile or help a neighbour, says CanadaHelps.org.

Or, make a donation. It's also a day for Canadians to come together and donate to charities and causes that are important to them, says the organization.

Several Olds and Didsbury area groups are taking part in Giving Tuesday 2023.

Olds area:

• Olds & District Hospice Society - Among other services, the society operates two hospice suites in Seasons Encore in Olds that offer a comforting and supportive living experience for those with life-limiting illnesses. Its goal this year on Giving Tuesday is to raise $600 to buy a smart TV for one of its hospice suites.

Didsbury area:

• Alberta (AB) Herding Dog Rescue – The organization's goal is to rescue, rehabilitate, re-train and re-home herding breeds from the local areas first and nationally when they can. The rescue tries to match up working homes for those dogs who need to herd, pet or sport homes for those dogs who do not and generally active homes that can give each dog what they need physically and mentally.
