Holy Trinity Catholic School parents will be fundraising for a new playground by holding a bottle drive from Jan. 5 to 7.People will be able to donate bottles and cans marked with Holy Trinity during those days at the bottle depots in Olds and Didsbury. In Sundre, the bottle drive will be on Jan. 5 and 6.ìWe are slowly raising funds to build a community-access playground outside of Holy Trinity Catholic School. There is a new housing district going up around it and it is a growth area in Olds,î said Rick Overwater, chair of the parents advisory council for Holy Trinity Catholic School.ìIdeally, we are going to build our children a playground because they have no playground. Right now, they are playing in a parking lot.îThe new playground would be a community-access, wheelchair-accessible space, with swing sets and a jungle gym. Moreover, the Town of Olds has already pledged to help with some soccer areas.ìIt is going to have a lot of stuff from kids aged five up until the early tweens,î said Overwater. The playground's cost is estimated at $245,000.ìWe are hoping to begin construction before the next school year but we will have to be practical and see what funding we have in place,î said Overwater.
