After almost six years with Mountain View County, the former manager of community services has found a new place to hang her hat.Michelle Honeyman started in her new position as manager of community development for the Town of Olds last Tuesday.Honeyman will be working with the town's director of community services, Barbara Hill, and will be involved with Family and Community Support Services programs and organizations such as the Nu-2-U thrift store.ìIt's a bit of a supervisory role but also doing community engagement and community strategy,î Honeyman said.ìThere's already a great team here ñ it's working with and hopefully complementing that team.îAsked why she chose to make the move, Honeyman said the new job is ìa chance to do something different (and) a chance to advance my career.îHoneyman grew up in Didsbury, where she was community services manager and FCSS director for two years prior to going to work for the county in April 2006. She received her degree in recreation and tourism management from Malaspina University-College (now Vancouver Island University) in Nanaimo.The mother of three lives on an acreage in the Zella area.The community development position is one of two new management positions created by the town. The other, manager of parks and facilities, has yet to be filled.
