Innisfail-Bowden school shuttle on the way out

The Chinook's Edge School Division board has decided that the division will discontinue a school bus shuttle service between Bowden and Innisfail starting in the fall of 2015.

The Chinook's Edge School Division board has decided that the division will discontinue a school bus shuttle service between Bowden and Innisfail starting in the fall of 2015. “Chinook's Edge continues to look for efficiencies in the challenging transportation budget, and encourages students to support the schools in their attendance area,” the division said in a release on Wednesday.

“Both communities are well served by their local schools, and trustees are proud of the quality learning environments that exist in these and all Chinook's Edge schools. The shuttle will continue for the upcoming 2014-15 school year, to allow families time to make alternate arrangements.”

In other school board news, the board has approved the following 2015 – 2018 capital plan requests: H.J. Cody High School (Sylvan Lake) modernization; Jessie Duncan Elementary (Penhold) School addition; new Carstairs School; Elnora School modernization; Spruce View School gymnasium addition and modernization, and Olds Koinonia Christian School lease support.
