Parkland Regional Library system's 2013 – 2015 strategic plan goals include advances in training, advocacy and marketing, technology, access to resources, and sustainability, the Mountain View County policies and priorities committee heard during its June 5 meeting.

MVC's 2013 contribution to Parkland is $89,973, based on $7.28 per capita for 12,359 residents.

Parkland, which has 50 libraries in West Central Alberta, presented its 2013-2015 strategic plan and 2013-2015 strategic work plan to the P&P committee.

The strategic plan includes the following goals:

• Provide training that will aid in the delivery of excellent library service throughout the region.

“Parkland Regional Library staff responded effectively to training requests but never developed long term training strategy,” the plan states.

“A training plan would allow for appropriate allocation of financial resources and make PRL consultants and other staff able to organize their activities in a more proactive, comprehensive manner for training delivery.”

• Provide advocacy and marketing on behalf of all member libraries.

• Enhance the technology infrastructure of Parkland and its member libraries.

• Maximize access to library resources and where possible ensure they meet community needs.

The policies and priorities committee, which is made up of all councillors, accepted the report for information.
