Councillors have approved the allocation of funds for Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) programs in Mountain View County for 2013.
During the recent regularly scheduled council meeting, councillors approved a total of $125,685, retaining an additional $32,000 in unallocated grant funding.
The allocations came following recommendations from the FCSS grant review committee, which met on Jan. 22. The per capita transfer amount to urban FCSS programs is $14.
Groups had requested a total of $168,326.50 for 2013, up from last year's grant of $146,236 with $23,000 unallocated.
Programs approved for funding this year include $10,000 for Boys & Girls Club of Olds and Area, $12,3000 for Chinook Arch Victim Services, $43,870 for Chinook's Edge School Division Family School Wellness, $10,000 for Cremona FCSS coordinator, $8,500 for the Didsbury and District Senior Support Association, $16,573 for Mountain View Adult Learning Society, $9,900 for Sundre FCSS community service directory, and $12,417 for Sundre Playschool Society preschool program.
