CARSTAIRS - The first retail cannabis store, Canna Corp., to open in Carstairs has an opening date: Sept. 12.
Canna Corp. owner Alex Metzger, who hails from Crossfield, said they are excited to be opening their first store in Carstairs at 1115 Hammond Street.
"We've got our business licence from the town and our cannabis licence from Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis and we're just stocking up on product," said Metzger.
"We'll be open on the 12th. We're very excited to get up and running. It's been a bit of a wait and quite a process. We're looking forward to it."
Metzger said the store will offer regulated products at competitive pricing.
"We'll have a non-pushy customer environment," he said. "We'll have a wide variety of cannabis products and cannabis accessories. We'll have very informative staff that will provide customers with information on all aspects of the cannabis industry."
Metzger said they will be opening a store in Crossfield in October. He said they are also planning on putting a store in Claresholm, although that is a few months away and has no opening date.
