SUNDRE – The Sundre area tied a high temperature record Saturday.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada's weather summary issued Sunday, the temperature rose to 16.1 degrees Celsius (C) at the Sundre Airport on April 5.
That ties a high temperature record for the date set in 1996, the federal agency noted.
Weather records in the area started being kept in 1993.
The following areas set a daily maximum temperature record on April 5, 2025 (temperature values given in degrees Celsius):
• Beaverlodge area – New record of 18.6. Old record of 16.7 set in 1977. Records in this area have been kept since 1912.
• Hendrickson Creek area – New Record of 14.8. Old Record of 14.4 set in 1996. Records in this area have been kept since 1995.
• Red Earth Creek area - New record of 18.2. Old record of 17.5 set in 2006. Records in this area have been kept since 1994.
The federal agency notes that the temperature records have been derived from a selection of historical stations in each geographical area that were active during the period of record and the summary may contain preliminary information.
