Red Deer County council has resurrected town hall meetings, with the first one in years being held at Cottonwood Gordon Hall late last month.ìOnly about eight people showed up,î said Div. 4 Coun. David Hoar, who attended the meeting.Hoar said even though it was a low number, the people who attended were happy for the opportunity and it's an event he hopes will grow over time with word of mouth.ìFor a first go it went not too bad.îHoar said he could see hosting a town hall meeting annually, though some people suggested having one every three months.Mayor Jim Wood made the suggestion of reviving town hall meetings during his election campaign last year. He told the Gazette in November that the last town hall meeting for the county was close to six years ago, but said the need for face-to-face opportunities between council and residents was an important way to find out the needs of the community. The next town hall meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, Feb. 10 at Knee Hill Valley Hall on Twp. Rd. 350, about 20 kilometres southeast of Innisfail. It starts at 7 p.m.
