A total of 17 candidates are seeking election in three area ridings in the 2023 provincial election, according to Elections Alberta.

Nominations closed for the Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills, Innisfail-Sylvan Lake, and Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre ridings, as well as elsewhere in the province, on May 11.

The election writ was dropped on May 1, with Alberta voters going to the polls in 87 electoral districts on May 29. The advanced polls take place May 23-27.

The official list of qualified candidates was posted on the Elections Alberta website on May 12.

In the Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills riding, incumbent UCP candidate Nathan Cooper is facing off against NDP candidate Cheryl Hunter Loewen, Independence Party of Alberta candidate Katherine Kowalchuk, Wildrose Loyalty Coalition candidate Cameron Tatlock, and Solidarity Movement of Alberta candidate Judy Bridges.

In the Innisfail-Sylvan Lake riding, incumbent UCP candidate Devin Dreeshen is facing off against Independence Party of Alberta candidate David Reid, NDP candidate Jason Heistad, Solidarity Movement of Alberta candidate Brandon Pringle, Wildrose Independence Party candidate Jeevan Mangat, and Reform Party candidate Randy Thorsteinson.

In the Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre riding, incumbent UCP candidate Jason Nixon is facing off against Alberta Advantage Party candidate Carol Nordlund Kinsey, Independent candidate Fred Schwieger, Independent candidate Tim Hoven, NDP candidate Vance Buchwald, and Wildrose Loyalty Coalition candidate Tami Tatlock.
