Trial in Sundre assault case slated to continue in June

The trial of a 31-year-old man charged after his then-girlfriend was allegedly choked on an industrial shop floor in Sundre in 2009 will continue in June, a judge said Wednesday.

The trial of a 31-year-old man charged after his then-girlfriend was allegedly choked on an industrial shop floor in Sundre in 2009 will continue in June, a judge said Wednesday.The accused faces one charge of choking with intent and three charges of assault. He has pleaded not guilty to all four charges.His trial before Judge W.J. Cummings got underway in Didsbury provincial court on Jan. 4.Testifying for the Crown on that day, the complainant, Jenna Vincent, testified the accused assaulted her over a 45-minute period on March 4, 2009. She also testified that the accused assaulted her on two subsequent occasions.On Wednesday, Judge E. Creighton set a special all-day court sitting of June 19 for the continuation of the trial of Aaron Dawson, 31.Dawson did not speak during Wednesday's brief court appearance.
