Violinists Jessica and Kate Pereversoff are a real-life sister act, performing together since they were youngsters and continuing to do so today.

Kate, 21, and Jessica, 19, who live between Cremona and Water Valley, will be playing at the Tea Party at the Water Valley Church Events Centre on May 10.

In an interview on Wednesday, the musicians explained that they play both classical and fiddle music. Their show on the 10th will include violin duos by composer Ignaz Pleyel.

Kate has been playing for 16 years and Jessica for 14. Both musicians learned their craft under the guidance of Bergen's Laurie Syer, a renowned performer and instructor.

“We both took classical lessons from Laurie,” said Kate.

Asked if they are competitive when it comes to performing, both Kate and Jessica said no.

“We often play together,” said Kate. “We like performing as a duo.”

Jessica added: “We started playing together when we were young.”

They both said they are looking forward to their Tea Party performance this weekend.

Jessica is studying music at Memorial University in Newfoundland, while Kate is studying music therapy at Acadia University in Nova Scotia.
