DIDSBURY - The Didsbury Aquajets swim club has been training hard getting ready for the regional meet, which takes place Aug. 10-11 in Calgary.
Several members of the team took part in the Calgary Swordfish meet on July 26-27 with a number of swimmers finishing in the top 10 in their categories. The Swordfish meet was the last of eight meets around Central Alberta the club has competed in since the beginning of June.
Aquajets president Monika Rosenke said the season has gone very well so far.
"Our swimmers are continuing to strive for better personal times in the events they participate in," said Rosenke. "Every one of our members who swam in a meet during the season can compete at regionals in Calgary. Those that get first or second in the finals for each event will be heading to provincials in Edmonton on August 16-18."
Rosenke said it's great to see the improvement in the swimmers over the season.
"Every one of our swimmers who attends our club no matter their skill level will show a drastic improvement in their stroke proficiency and their stamina by the time they get to the end of the season," she said. "This comes from swimming 1,000 metres at a minimum per practice."
