Olds' Atom Female Grizzlys captured silver at their provincial championship tournament in Innisfail over the weekend.
They faced Okotoks in the final game, which they lost 3-1.
The silver medal was a bittersweet accomplishment for a very competitive team.
"It was disappointing but we were still able to celebrate," said head coach Ray Hoppins. "To be the second best team in the province is something to be proud of."
Olds defeated the host Innisfail Flyers 3-2 in the semifinals. That was a big accomplishment for the girls because the Flyers were the champions in league play, Hoppins said.
They also finished first in their pool during round robin play, with a 3-0 record.
The Grizzlys scored 29 goals, the most out of any team.
Hoppins said they've always been an offensive-minded team.
"We have a lot of girls that can score. We preach a high-offence game, we encourage players to take risks, and the defence to join the rush."
The team's high scorer was Sydney Grover, with 10 goals and two assists in five total games.
Hoppins' group has now won silver for the second time in three years. They finished second in 2014 as well.
