DIDSBURY - Once again the Didsbury Farm and Ranch Bonspiel brought together farmers, ranchers and businessmen to hit the ice. The annual event featured 40 teams from around the area. Not only does the event feature great curling but also a banquet and skills competition.
Co-organizer Harry Reese said the event went well once again. He said it's a great opportunity to not only have some fun but also mingle.
"It went very well," said Reese. "The food was good at the banquet. People were happy. It came off very well. It's a good time for the urban to get together with the rural people. It's a lot of fun as well."
Winning this year's A event was the Jim Thompson rink from Olds, which also featured Conrad Kohl, Dick Smethurst and business person Connie Strautman from Didsbury Pharmasave.
Finishing first in the B event was the Gerald Willsie rink from Innisfail, which included Kyle Daines, Greg Hoar and business person Brett Hebert from Boom Construction from Crossfield.
Finishing tops in the C event was the Anthony Venneman rink of Didsbury featuring Josh Venneman, Zach Venneman and business person Rick Kohut from Health Street in Olds.
The top team in the D event was the Nels Brian rink of Cremona featuring Derrick Wilson, Rhonda Miller and business sponsor Wes Thompson from ProAll in Olds.
