The Broncos won 8-1, primarily thanks to Rodney, who scored a record-tying seven goals in one game. She was subsequently named the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference female athlete of the week.

The Olds College Broncos women’s soccer team defeated the Red Deer College (RDC) Queens 8-1 Sunday, Oct. 13 at Richardson Pioneer Field, led by Felicia Rodney’s Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) single game record tying seven-goal performance.

Six of those goals came in a 26-minute window of the first half.

The Broncos had nine offside calls against them in the first 20 minutes of the game before Rodney struck with three goals in a span of seven minutes. Assists on the goals came from Mackenzie Mohr, Jayna Espie-Sanderson and Jenna Kardos.

The first and third goals were similar as Mohr and then Kardos gave Rodney lead passes along the left and then right side that she powered past RDC goalie Alethea Riemer.

At the 34-minute mark, Rodney struck with two goals in a 1.5-minute span, this time coming from Espie-Sanderson and then Kathleen Andres.

RDC had their best chance of the first half when they got a free kick with three minutes left in the half. Hallock came out and punched the ball away from trouble.

As time expired, Paige Whitehead gave Rodney a great lead pass. Rodney made no mistake and deposited the ball behind Riemer.

Shots at halftime were 15-5 for Olds with shots on goal 11-6 for the Broncos, and corner kicks were 1-0 for Red Deer.

Red Deer changed goalies at halftime with Riley Deraff entering the game.

Seven minutes into the second half, Red Deer broke the shutout when Bailey Richarde took a long shot that Hallock was unable to reach.

Katharina Oeltermann regained the Broncos' six-goal lead off a free kick from Paige Whitehead that rebounded off Deraff and to Oeltermann for the easy deposit into the open net.

At the 77-minute mark, Rodney took a lead pass from Oeltermann and buried the ball behind Deraff to tie an ACAC record with seven goals in the game.

Player of the game for Red Deer was Bronwyn Pfeifle and the Pit Barbecue Player of the Game for the Broncos was Felicia Rodney.

Shots were 23-7 for the Broncos with Olds goalie Jewels Hallock making four saves while Red Deer’s Riemer made six saves and Deraff made three.
