DIDSBURY -- It was a close battle but in the end Carstairs knocked off Didsbury 14 games to 10 in the 2019 version of the Carbury Cup, which recently took place at the Didsbury Curling Club.

The event featured 16 teams, eight from each community, battling head to head in sturling (stick curling) action. Organizer Wayne Sandy said the bonspiel went very well.

"There was some excellent competition," said Sandy. "Carstairs won bragging rights for the next year. This is the 11th year of competition dating back about 15 years. (Some years were missed). It's always a lot of fun."

The Didsbury Curling Club is hosting free fun curl nights every Friday night from 7 to 9 p.m. from now until March 1. Also coming up soon, the club is hosting a sturling novice tournament on Feb. 14 and a sturling bonspiel on Feb. 15.
