The Community Learning Campus's Fit 4 Fort McMurray fundraiser netted $915 for the Canadian Red Cross on May 12.
That evening, the CLC opened its doors to the community to try a variety of activities and classes, waiving fees in favour of donations to support those affected by the wildfires.
Forty-five people participated, making the average donation just over $20 per person.
"People are very generous in this community and we were very excited we had so many out … We were very excited we could make a difference in our own way," said Brittany Ehmann, fitness supervisor.
"We had people try out activities they may not have the opportunity to and be active for a great cause."
There were several available: spin, kickboxing, Kickstart, the Tri-Active kids program, and a drop-in session at the recreation centre. As well, drop-in bookings for the squash and raquetball court were donated to the Red Cross.
