Jylisa Williams, who played as a guard for the Olds Broncos women’s team during the 2012-13 season, has decided to attend Lakehead University in Ontario this fall.

Jylissa Williams, who led the Olds College Broncos women’s varsity basketball team to a bronze medal at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championships in Nova Scotia in March, will finish her post-secondary career at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ont. beginning in September.

Williams informed the college she was pursuing her fourth year in sociology studies at the eastern university about a month ago, said Reg Carrick, head coach of the college’s women’s varsity basketball team.

Carrick said when Williams first agreed to come to the college over a year ago, it was understood that she would only be here for one year.

"Academically, it just made sense for her to move on," he said, noting that she made a lasting impact both on the floor and off it at the college while she was here, capturing the player of the year award in the CCAA and leading the association in scoring.

"This is a people business at the end of the day. We’re very proud of her," Carrick said.
