DIDSBURY - The Mountainview Colts finished off their fourth straight road game on Saturday with a 3-2 overtime win over the Stettler Lightning in Big Valley.
Josh Gette scored the overtime winner at 16:06 of the first overtime assisted by linemates Trevor Simpson and Alan Klinck. The goal was the second of the game for Gette, who also picked up an assist on Mitchell Visser's first-period goal.
Griffin Andrews picked up the win in net for the Colts stopping 37 of 39 shots.
On Jan. 8 the Colts fell 4-1 in Blackfalds despite outshooting the Wranglers 41-31.
The Wranglers went up 2-0 early on goals from Austin Lawson and Braidon Westin before Reed Engman scored for the Colts, assisted by Travis Gerrard.
Lawson's second goal put Blackfalds up 3-1 with six minutes left in the third period. Dylan Scheunert scored an empty-netter for the Wranglers with 1:21 left.
Ethan Woodward got the loss in goal for Mountainview taking on 31 shots and making 28 saves.
On Jan. 4 Mountainview lost in overtime to Okotoks on the road. Scoring for the Colts were Quintin Thorburn with two goals and Wyatt Gelinas and Mitchell Visser with singles.
Woodward got the loss stopping 49 of 54 Bisons shots.
On Jan. 2 the Colts travelled to Ponoka where they beat the hometown Stampeders 6-1.
The Colts went up 2-0 in the first period on goals from veterans Alan Klinck and Wyatt Gelinas. In the second, Matthew Myatt scored a pair for Mountainview as they pushed ahead to a 4-1 lead.
The third period saw Mitch Visser and Josh Gette scoring as the Colts continued their dominance over Ponoka.
Woodward picked up the win in net stopping 22 of 23 Stampeder shots.
The Colts currently sit in third place in the Heritage League's North Division with 17 wins, 11 losses and two overtime losses for 36 points, nine behind the second-place Red Deer Vipers.
Mountainview returns to home ice on Wednesday (Jan. 16) with the first game of a three-game home stand against Red Deer at the Didsbury Memorial Complex. On Friday the Colts play Three Hills, while Saturday sees Ponoka in town.
