CARSTAIRS -- Curling season wrapped up in Carstairs on the weekend with the mixed wind-up bonspiel, which was held from March 28-31 at the Carstairs Curling Club. The bonspiel featured 26 teams from Calgary, Cochrane and Carstairs.

Craig Vatcher, bonspiel organizer, said the event went very well and everyone had a great time.

"It was an outstanding weekend," said Vatcher. "Of the 26 teams, six came from clubs in Calgary, one came from Cochrane and the rest were all local teams. There were plenty of fun activities throughout the weekend. We had name that tune music trivia on Friday night and then karaoke night on Saturday with the big banquet."

Vatcher said they also had a silent auction that raised $800 for the club.

"We had some great donations of prizes from local businesses here in town, which was wonderful," he said.

Division winners were:   A -- Mamer rink from the Calgary Curling Club; B -- D'Amour rink from Huntington Hills Curling Club in Calgary; C -- Steven Lucas rink from Carstairs; and D -- Kerry Meyers rink from Carstairs.
