Two players have signed letters of intent with the Olds Grizzlys.

They are defencemen Tanner Scott of Red Deer and Joel Shoemaker of Crossfield, both of whom were born in 2000.

Scott is currently playing for the Red Deer Chiefs Midget AAA hockey league.

He played in 35 regular season and four playoff games, scoring 11 points. Scott also played one game for the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Whitecourt Wolverines.

This past season, Shoemaker played for the Alberta Midget Hockey League’s Airdrie CFR Bison, racking up 12 points in 31 regular season games.

He also appeared in four games for the Grizzlys this past season, scoring a goal and an assist.

“The signing of Tanner is very exciting for the Grizzlys,” says Brad Koopmans, the team’s vice-president of hockey operations.

“He is a steady, talented defenceman with so much potential. He’ll assist in strengthening the Grizzlys’ blueline for the next season and future years.”

Grizzlys associate coach Joe Murphy is excited about the addition of Shoemaker as well.

“Joel is a dynamic puck mover who has the skill and ability to control the game,” he says. “He was a priority for us and we are very excited that Joel chose the Grizzlys.”
