Former École Olds High School student and track athlete Andreas Trosche is now ranked second in the country and has qualified to go to the U-23 North American Caribbean Athletics Conference Championships in Mexico in July as a member of the Canadian national team.

Troschke, 20, obtained that berth after winning the senior men's hammer throw competition in Lethbridge on May 19.

He threw the hammer 63.77 metres (m) in the senior men’s  7.26 kilogram class.

This is just Troschke's first year in the senior men’s category.

Troschke, now an athlete with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns, has also been nominated as Athletics Alberta’s 2018  Junior Male Athlete of the Year -- for the third year in a row.
