Gold medals for badminton players

Three members of the Olds Badminton Club will be competing in zones in Canmore after winning medals at a county tournament in the Ralph Klein Centre this past Thursday (April 14).

Three members of the Olds Badminton Club will be competing in zones in Canmore after winning medals at a county tournament in the Ralph Klein Centre this past Thursday (April 14).Faith Walton, along with Jenna Kardos and partner Braylene Worley both won gold medals. Walton won hers in Grade 10 girls singles. Kardos and partner won theirs in Grade 9 girls doubles. Also, Aidan Kwok received a silver medal in Grade 9 boys singles. All are headed to zones.Christian Wildt of Didsbury received a bronze medal in Grade 9 boys singles.During the previous week, Walton and Kwok obtained gold medals during a high school badminton tournament in Sylvan Lake.Walton received a gold medal in Grade 10 girls singles. Kwok and partner received a gold medal in Grade 9 boys doubles.Badminton coach Mary Dawn Smith says Walton and Kwok “are not new to winning gold medals locally. Both of their abilities have increased substantially this year.”“This will be the first year that Faith Walton has the opportunity to go to provincials if she continues her path,” Smith [email protected]
