The Olds Grizzlys have a new head coach and general manager and have "removed" their head scout and director of player personnel.

The changes were made late Thursday night.

A news release says Adam Redmond, the team's head coach and GM up until Thursday, "made a tough decision to mutually part ways."

Joe Murphy, formerly an associate coach, has been named interim head coach, effective immediately.

Also, head scout and director of player personnel Doug Hergenhein was "removed" effective immediately.

This season, the Grizzlys finished last in the Alberta Junior Hockey League's eight-team Viterra South Division with a record of 18 wins, 37 losses, five overtime losses and two overtime wins.

As a result, the team missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-2005 season.

Grizzlys officials could not be reached for comment by press time.

"The Olds Grizzlys organization would like to thank Adam Redmond for all of his hard work and commitment," the news release says. "The Grizzlys wish Adam all the best with his future coaching endeavours."

In the news release, the organization thanked Hergenhein him for his efforts to recruit players and wished him well too.

Redmond was named head coach and GM after new ownership took over the Grizzlys last spring.
