The Olds Grizzlys did indeed trade for a 19-year-old defenceman, as head coach Joe Murphy said they might. They acquired Nolan Spadafore from the Grande Prairie Storm for future considerations.

The Olds Grizzlys did make a trade after all -- and it was for a 19-year-old defenceman, just like head coach Joe Murphy anticipated.

Murphy announced on Friday that the Grizzlys had acquired Nolan Spadafore from the Grande Prairie Storm for future considerations.

The junior hockey trading deadline was Jan. 10.

During an earlier interview with the Albertan, Murphy said he'd be interested in obtaining a defenceman — ideally 19 years old — to provide some mentorship for the Grizzlys who are a young team, with 16 first-year players.

Spadafore, originally from Cochrane, is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 187 pounds.

He has scored three goals and picked up eight assists for 11 points in 37 games.

As of late last week, Spadafore had sat in the penalty box for 41 minutes.
