Lacrosse playing brothers, Nathen and Jordon Waddell went head-to-head at a lacrosse game at the end of May, which resulted in a loss for the Olds Mavericks.
Nathen Waddell, 18, played for the local team the Olds Mavericks and Jordon, 19, played for the away team, the Red Deer Rampage.
The game’s final score was 5-13.
The first goal of the game was scored by Mavericks player Lucas Mulholland less than two minutes into the first period with an assist from Damian Vickers.
From there, the rest of the first period saw four goals from the visiting team. The Mavericks didn’t score again until late into the second period with back-to-back goals.
Both were scored by Marshall Bloomfield. The first of his goals was assisted by Bret Marshall. The second by Matthew Gaudette and Josh Gette.
Then in the tail end of the second period, the Mavericks pulled through two more goals to increase their final score.
The Mavericks penultimate goal was scored by Vickers. He was assisted by Mulholland and Caden Switzer.
Following this, with less than two minutes in the second period, Marshall scored the team's fifth and final goal.
Neither team scored any goals in the third period.
The Mavericks' next game against the Calgary Mountaineers was still a loss for the home team, but was significantly closer with a final score of 12-13 which brought their losing streak up to eight.
As of Friday, June 8, they had a record of no wins and eight losses in eight games in the Jr. B Tier 1 Central division of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.
