OLDS — Wade Bearchell, the Olds Golf Club’s pro/manager for nearly 20 years, says he has no specific plans after he retires later this year.

Bearchell’s resignation is effective Dec. 15. He began his tenure with the Olds Golf Club in February, 2003.

“I currently don’t have any plans yet but I’m excited for what the future may hold. It likely won’t be in the golf industry, but as of right now I’m not sure,” Bearchell wrote in an email to the Albertan.

“I’ve lived in Calgary now for over three years and commuted pretty much seven days a week during the season and I’m just tired of the drive and need a change.

“This community has given me so much support over my career and I will miss it greatly. However it’s time for change.”

Bearchell said the club is in a solid financial position and he offered to aid the transition for a new pro/manager.

Club president Mike Dezall announced Bearchell’s decision on behalf of the facility’s board of directors.

“Wade has been an integral part of our club’s development and success through his many years of service,” Dezall wrote.

“Please join the board of directors and in extending our gratitude for Wade's valued contributions to our organization and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
