OKCS basketball teams win two gold medals

Olds Koinonia Christian School (OKCS) basketball teams have won two zone championships and picked up silver and bronze in two others. The senior girls won the 1A zones, defeating Bassano 90-53 in the finals.

Olds Koinonia Christian School (OKCS) basketball teams have won two zone championships and picked up silver and bronze in two others.

The senior girls won the 1A zones, defeating Bassano 90-53 in the finals. Bassano is about 220 kilometres southeast of Olds.

The OKCS senior girls were ranked second in 1A provincial rankings going into provincials, held in Paradise Valley this past weekend (March 14-16). Paradise Valley is just south of Lloydminster.

This is the fourth year in a row the OKCS senior girls' basketball teams have competed in provincials.

Also, the junior A girls won the 1J zones in Trochu, defeating Prairie Christian Academy of Three Hills 51-48 in the finals.

Meanwhile, the senior boys took home the silver medal in 1A zones after losing 89-77 to host Rosemary in the finals. Rosemary is about 250 kilometres southeast of Olds.

The senior boys were ranked sixth in 1A provincial rankings going into provincials which were hosted by Stirling High School, south of Lethbridge, March 14-16.

This is the second year in a row that the OKCS senior boys' basketball team has competed in provincials.

The OKCS junior boys' basketball team won bronze in the 1J zones in Rosemary, defeating Airdrie Koinonia.
