The Sundre peewee Huskies finished in the middle of the pack following an annual tournament on home ice held Dec. 11-13.
"We did alright,î said coach Chris Craig. "We finished in fourth.î
The Huskies played three games, of which they won one and lost two.
Eight teams, including the local squad, played in the annual tournament hosted by the Huskies.
"It was good. We played some tough competition and had lots of fun,î the coach said.
Coming in first place was the St. Albert Beasts, followed by the St. Albert Bolts in second and the Okotoks Oilers in third.
"We had great crowds for every game we played in.î
Parents and coaching staff from the other teams provided some positive feedback about the tournament and also told Craig the games were evenly matched.
The Huskies are doing well so far this season in the North Central Alberta Hockey League. The tier 2 team has been improving "mostly in positioning and passing ó being able to break out of our own zone quickly,î said Craig.
During practice, coaching staff has focused on continuing efforts to improve the Huskies' positional play and puck movement, he said.
Although a schedule was not yet ready when he spoke with the Round Up last week, Craig said the peewee Huskies will be competing in provincials in the new year.
