Throwing athlete Haylin Eling of Olds competed in the Royal Canadian Legion National Youth Track and Field Championship, held Aug. 7-13 in Sydney, N.S. Here, she poses with her grandfather, Patrick Middlebrook, who served as a UN peacekeekper in Germany for four years. In Eling’s hand is a cheque for $500 she received from the Olds Legion to help cover her costs.
