The Innisfail Merchants downed the St. Albert Cardinals 5 to 3 in extra innings in the 21U AAA final of Baseball Alberta 2019 Junior AAA provincial championships, Monday (Aug. 5) at the Wally Footz Field in Edmonton.
Innisfail out-scored the Cardinals 4 to 2 in the eighth inning for the victory and the provincial championship title. The Merchants also won provincials in 2018.
Merchants pitcher Jack Henley went eight innings with 114 pitches.
Both Innisfail and St. Albert advance to the 2019 Western Canada Baseball Association Championships (WCBA), this weekend (Aug. 9 -11) in Saskatoon.
