It was another disappointing weekend for the Olds College Broncos men's and women's soccer teams after back-to-back losses on September 21 and 22.

On Sept. 21 at Medicine Hat College, the women's team lost to the Rattlers 1-0 while the men were also blanked 5-0.

The next day the Broncos returned to their home field to take on the Lethbridge Community College Kodiaks.

After a scoreless first half, thanks in part to a heroic save by Broncos goalkeeper Vanessa Lea on a Lethbridge penalty kick in the dying seconds of the first half's last minute, Taylor Thygesen was able to give the Kodiaks their only goal of the game at the 18:13 mark in the second.

Since the Broncos weren't able to find the back of the Lethbridge net—an offside call robbed them of a goal just under the 10-minute mark— the 1-0 score was enough to give the Kodiaks the win.

In the immediately following men's game, a quicker and more persistent Lethbridge team opened the scoring at the 38:25 mark thanks to a goal from Nico Pasquotti.

Dario Pasquotti then put the Kodiaks up 2-0 with a goal at 10:26 in the first half and Diego Carpintero scored at 42:07 in the second.

Darien Smawley put the Broncos on the board when he head-butted in a goal at 40:45 in the second but that would be Olds College's only goal of the game.

For good measure, the Kodiaks buried one more goal in extra time when Tyson Frederickson tapped in a soft rebound to give Lethbridge the 4-1 win.

Neither Broncos club has yet to record a win this season and they now have only a slim chance of making the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference playoffs.

The Broncos next take to the pitch on Sept. 28 against the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Trojans at Olds.
