At the Alberta provincial trials held on the weekend of June 14 to 16, the Olds Rapids swim team claimed bronze in the 12-and-under girls 400-metre individual medley and the 14- to 15-year-old 400-metre individual medley.
Jazz Thompson, 11, posted a time of six minutes, 53 seconds, smashing the old club record of seven minutes, 10 seconds by Sarah Delong.
Thompson lowered the 11- to 12-year-old 50-metre and 200-metre breaststroke club records held by Hanna Lutz and Katie Beard respectively at trials.
Thompson was the fastest 11-year-old in the 50-metre breaststroke at trials.
Her 200-metre breaststroke was also faster than the all-time club record set by Victoria Wagstaff, 14, in Red Deer the previous weekend.
Terence Kelly also posted another club record this season in 200-metre breaststroke.
His time of 3:11.97 replaces the 13- to 14-year-old record held by Blayze Bloomfield and the all-time record held by Cody McArthur.
By taking off more than 30 seconds in the 800-metre freestyle trials, Cole Urbanowski, 14, improved his own 13- and 14-year-old club record.
He was the second fastest 14-year-old in the 800-metre freestyle.
Rounding out the field at trials was Wesley Wilks, 12. Wilks placed third in the 200-metre butterfly and the 200-metre breaststroke.
Olds attended two other swim meets previously held this long course season. Wilks set the 11- and 12-year-old 800-metre freestyle club record, previously held by Bryce Wachtler, in Lethbridge on May 4 and 5.
Red Deer hosted the 61st annual Freeze or Fry outdoor competition on June 7 to 9.
Kelly won bronze in 50-metre, 100-metre, and 200-metre butterfly races.
Wilks set a club record in the 1,500-metre freestyle previously held by Wachtler.
Thompson won bronze in the 50-metre and 100-metre freestyle races and the 100-metre breaststroke, setting a new club record in 100-metre breaststroke, previously held by Delong.
Mitchell Ormann, 16, had taken this season to focus on wrestling with Olds High School and assisting with the swim club.
After a year off, Ormann won gold in the 100-metre freestyle, 50- and 100-metre backstroke races and 200-metre butterfly and silver medals in 50- and 100-metre butterfly races and the 50-metre freestyle. He lowered his own 15- and 16-year-old club records in the 50- and 100-metre backstroke races and the 50-metre freestyle.
The 50-metre freestyle was also under his all-time club record.
Wagstaff briefly held the 20-metre breaststroke all-time club record, but retains the 13- and 14-year-old record.
She completed the 13- and 14-year-old breaststroke record sweep for the second consecutive year and set the all-time record in 100-metre breaststroke previously held by Morgan Jenkin.
Kate Amos, 12, completed one full year of competition and improved 22 seconds.
Long course rookie Dawson Green, 14, was an integral part of the four-by-50-metre freestyle relay team, lowering the previous club best by more than nine seconds.
Ormann, Urbanowski, and Kelly completed the team.
One other long-course rookie, Koupland Brown, 11, placed 11th in the 50-metre breaststroke and has excellent promise with the Rapids.
