DIDSBURY -- The Didsbury Jetz softball program is off to a good start with several teams performing well in league and tournament play.
Jen Dawson, Jetz organizer, said the program has seven teams operating this year.
"This is our second year operating," said Dawson. "Softball hasn't been a part of the Didsbury community for approximately five to eight years. We have 70 players this year. We grew by 20 this year."
The program has one U-8 Timbit team (learn to play), one U-10 team, two U-12 teams, two U-14 teams and one U-16 team.
Dawson said the teams play in the "D" league, Zone 4 against teams from Olds, Sundre, Innisfail, Drumheller, Trochu, Sylvan Lake, Red Deer and Lacombe.
Recently, one of the U-14 teams played at a tournament in Sylvan Lake winning three games before falling in the final to West Hill.
