Winners of the zones go on to the provincials, which will be held March 4-5 in Ponoka.

OHS boys curling coach Ken Weseen was asked if he thinks the boys and girls teams will be able to make it to the provincials.

“I don't know,” he said. “It's very difficult to say because it depends on how they play, and I have no idea what the other teams are like. It changes every year.”

But he and girls coach Libby Clark are very proud of the two teams for making it this far.

“This is the first year for the boys and the first year for the girls,” Weseen said.

“We had a mixed team last year. We went into zones and we got silver. But this year we were able to get enough kids out to have a boys team and a girls team, so it's new. They've done very well.” [email protected]
