Until May 27, you can help set a fundraising record for Special Olympics Olds & District (SOOD).
From now until that date, people can donate to the organization via Staples; in-store or online.
The fundraiser, called "Give a Toonie, Share a Dream" is for the national level of Special Olympics.
However, SOOD will receive a portion of all funds raised across Canada based on its registration numbers and on how many athletes they had participating in the kickoff for the drive, which occurred May 4.
On that day, 14 SOOD athletes were in the store from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They greeted customers as they came in and shared information about SOOD.
They also conducted a bake sale with goods provided by athletes, staff and family.
During that kickoff, the organization received $818.85 in donations.
"In May of 2015 we raised $609, which ended up being the most of any store in Canada on launch day.  It will be interesting to see where we stand this year," SOOD chair Karen Mengersen says.
"Although there were many events happening in Olds and the weather was cold and snowy, we still had a good day."
